CARRICO origins 1674

Hello to CARRICO researchers of the family origins. I seek your help!! I have traced the name to Portugal. As spelled with two Rs, the name is at least 1000 years old. A parish by the same name (Motos Do Carrico) was established on the central Portuguese coast in the 11th century (near Figuiera do Foz). The name itself was used by the Romans. In Latin it means "marshy plant" (carex). The Portugues still pronounce it the same way as the Latin ("carrish"). I am searching for a family route to England between 1629 and 1656, and then St. Mary's in 1674. The Maryland documents show Peter "Currico" came with a dozen Englishmen as indentured servants (Peter being one of them) transported by a Mr. Dobson in June 1674. This is where I lose the trail. How did Peter get from Portugal to England? There are precisous few Carricos in England today. Only three families that I have been able to discover. Any help out there??? Thanks. Tim Carrico Weaver
