Spelling of names became regularized only after the Civil War, so you can't really assume anything aobut spelling. Also census takers and other scribes of official documents would spell what they heard. By the way, I'm descended from the Carricos who moved from Farquier Co Va. to Dodridge Co. WV. One son settled in Ross Co Ohio about the turn of the Century. So far I've never run acroos anybody in that line doing research. Richard Davis
