We now have test results from descendants of three sons of Charles CARRICO (1770s-1830s) of Sullivan Co., IN, namely: Reason, Basil, and Josiah. The descendants of Basil and Josiah are a tight match with other descendants of Peter CARRICO I, the 1674 immigrant to Maryland. It appears only the descendant of Reason CARRICO has an NPE, a "non-paternal event" (i.e., hidden adoption or illicit paternity) in his patrilineal line.

We do not yet know where in his patrilineal line the NPE took place. If you are a descendant of Reason CARRICO (1790s-1878) of Sullivan Co., IN, you have a stake in finding out where in this individual's line the NPE occurred. So, if you are a male surnamed CARRICO descended from Reason on a patrilineal (direct male) line, please get Y-DNA tested, to 1) find out whether you have the NPE and 2) to help determine where this NPE occurred.

If you have any further questions about testing, I'll be happy to answer them privately.
