Thanks so much , Susan.Since you put the will as a topic by itself, I had not seen it.This is great.Looks like he may have been a disappointment to his father, and had hocked his medical instruments to him for cash??
We have contacted the professor who originally had found the Carrick list of Fort Mims.He says that it may be in one of three or four places, some with thousands of manuscripts, so we may never locate Carrick's description of what happened at Fort Mims.We have no idea as to why Carrick might have been there either. He is not on the census records of the territory as far a we can find.Any ideas where he may have been in 1813?You said that Wm. McClellan at one time was in MS as an Indian Agent.Do you have anymore on this, or contact with anyone who might?
This is a great deal of help.Dr. Waselkov's book will be the most definitive modern book on Fort Mims, which was the 911 of the day.It resulted in future Indian policy and also figured greatly in the election of Pres. Jackson. Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Sue
