I can't help you directly but can offer some suggestions.
My gggrandfather was Jesse Carrell/Carroll, b. 1809 Richland Co. SC, bro. Thomas b. 1811. They moved together with wives Sarah and Elsie/Ailsey/Alsey (respectively) to GA, then Oktibbeha Co. MS 1850-1870, then to Delta Co TX 1880ff where they are buried. There are many Thomas's in several generations. I have not traced any line but mine since 1880, but expect that Thomas continued to be a popular name. The point is that you probably will not find your Thomas with certainty without searching censuses during his life and making connections backwards and/or starting at the other end, say 1800 and following Carrell families until you find a match with info you have - names, places, dates, wives, anything distinctive. Or maybe you will be lucky and find someone who has your connections.
