Margaret Carroll and Benjamin Carrel, before 1840 MO

We are trying to trace an ancestor Margaret Graham whose maiden name was reportedly Carroll. While trying to find her in the 1840 census in Jefferson County, MO, we found Benjamin Carrel living where she was in 1830 census (between Milton Baker and the Gamble family)

Her children who were living in 1880 census said she was born in NC, KY, TN, MO---around 1785. Her husband William Graham left her and the children, so she was the head of the household in 1830. Her children's names included: Jefferson, Thompson, Madison, William Kane, James Stephen, Adeline, Mary (Polly), Margaret, Arah, Lucinda (all GRAHAMs)
