I wonder if you have any information that would help me - my grandmother was Darcus Victoria Carroll, born in Claiborne Co., TN.
Her mother was Lydia, father James.
I have found a record from the 1880 census listing Lida Carrell(35?), widow; Dorcas (6); Samuel(9); and Margaret(74), widow (Lida's mother).
Margaret was married to Augustus. In the 1870 census it shows Margaret Carroll(55) and Augustus Carroll(65)with Lydia Clapp(35?)daughter; Amanda(13); Cordelia(9) and Thomas(5). Found record where Lydia married Boston Clapp in 1853, but must have widowed or divorced by 1870 (no record of either that I can find).
Lydia/Lida must have married James Carroll (a cousin, maybe?) after 1870, but there is no record of the marriage in Claiborne Co.
I have come across several James Carrolls, but have no idea which one it would be. There is a record of a James Carroll that married Mary Poor in 1855, but don't know if that's him.
Do you have information that would help? Thanks so much!
