I think the Dempsey Carrell who filed in Alabama for a pension based on his Revolutionary War service in Duplin County, NC was Dempsey Carrell, Jr. The 1790 census for Sampson County, NC lists a Demcy Carol and a Demey Carrol. I believe one of these should be Dempsey Sr. and one should be Dempsey Jr. He bought land from Alexander Carrell in Sampson County in 1801 as Dempsey Carrell, Jr.
