Your ancestor, Thomas E. Carrell (Carroll), could very well have been descended from James Carrell and his wife, Sarah Dungan in the early 1700's. There is a book on their descendants that I have been trying to get a hold of, written in 1928 by Ezra Patterson Carrell. I myself am a descendant of James Carrell and Sarah Dungan. It might be worth the effort to locate a copy of this book. My local library is hooked to the Internet, and researched the locations where this book can be found. Perhaps you live close to a location where you could peruse it. Good luck!
