We have one individual surnamed Carre in our Carr Family DNA Genealogy Project, he is also listed in Ysearch. He lists his ancestral location as Guernsey, Channel Islands. His closest match to other YSTR haplotypes within our project is 61/67, though there are several close matches with haplotypes that have not been increased to 67 markers.

He is a 64/67 match with a Moody which also lists Melissa as a contact, so I presume this is you. There is also a 63/67 match with another Moody.

His closest match is to a man named Meyer, 66/67. He also has several 65/67 matches with men of different surnames, four of whom are surnamed Harris, two are Cook, the other matches do not have a recurrence of the same surname, which are mostly English in origin.

It appears that this individual has a very common haplotype, thus matches at even the 67 marker level are common. It is possible he had a Viking raider ancestor who left a lot offspring scattered around the region. Guernsey was a stronghold of the Viking Raiders. Or it could be that this DNA haplotype is a Norse Modal, thus there are numerous men who match it, even though their common paternal ancestor was thousands of years ago.

Hope this helps.

John Carr
