I am descendant of this Carraway line and offer the following information from my database in hopes that it will be helpful: Descendants of Walter Martin Carraway Generation No. 1 1. WALTER MARTIN7 CARRAWAY (EZEKIEL6, ELIJAH5, THOMAS4, JOHN3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born November 09, 1822 in Darlington Co., South Carolina, and died 1864 in Arkansas. He married ELVIRA GRANTHUM October 17, 1844. She was born February 14, 1824 in Near Hartsville, South Carolina, and died May 13, 1899 in Bradley County, Arkansas. Notes for WALTER MARTIN CARRAWAY: Family legend says only two Caraway boys came to the states from the "old county" (?). Believed to be Martin and a brother (name unknown), but brother had a son named Delbert. Children of WALTER CARRAWAY and ELVIRA GRANTHUM are: i. LORENZO D.8 CARRAWAY, b. 1841, Alabama. Notes for LORENZO D. CARRAWAY: Because Lorenzo was noted listed with the family in the 1850 census and because he was born in Alabama, rather than South Carolina, he may not have been natural son of Walter Martin Carraway. ii. JOHN R. CARRAWAY, b. 1846, Darlington, South Carolina. More About JOHN R. CARRAWAY: Military service: Fought/survived in Civil War iii. EZEKIAL CARRAWAY, b. 1848, South Carolina. iv. CAROLINA A.D.
