Benjamin Carpenter of Lenawee Co, MI
For anyone researching this line, I am convinced I found Benjamin's and his wife Elizabeth's newspaper obituaries. The library in Adrian was able to provide me with copies from theMichigan Messenger, Vol II 1894 to 1895 for the date March 3, 1894 which read:
page 1, column 2 -- The death of Mrs. Benjamin Carpenter, aged 82, occurred yesterday morning at her home in Madison Center. The death of her husband, aged 88, is momentarily expected and Mrs. Carpenter remains are being kept that they may be buried together. They have traveled life's pathways for over 60 years. They came from the east and settled in Fairfield and then removed to Madison.
page 3, column 2 -- The death of Benjamin Carpenter of Madison Center occurred last night and he will be buried with his wife. Deceased was 88 years old.
This means that both Benjamin and Elizabeth died on March 2, 1894. Both were buried in the Bradish Cemetery in Lenawee Co.
I descend from their son Abraham and his first wife Emeline Baldwin Packard and have looked for these death dates for years.
