My name is Ronald Carpenter. I ran across your Genforum post of Feb.12, 2006, requesting information about East Texas Carpenters from Kentucky/Virginia.
I am also looking for my line of Carpenters that match thisbackground. My Great-Grandfather is John Wesley Carpenter, who came to Sabine County, Texas in the 1870's. His father is William Rile Carpenter who settled in Tishomingo County, Mississippi in the 1820's. William was from Kentucky with parents from Virginia.
The parents of William are where my research efforts have come to a standstill. Although there is a line that is generally accepted going back from here, it has not been able to be documented to my knowledge.
I would like to hear about the line you are looking for. It sounds like there may be some definite relation. I would like to find out about the "German descent" information you have, as the accepted ancestry of my line is believed to be English.
