In the 1820s, Daniel moved to Montgomery AL, where he had a business.He married c10 Mar
1830 in Montgomery AL to Sarah Hammett Shaw [MCA].She was reported to be Sarah H.
Norton, widow of Charles Shaw [ABC].
Daniel/7 Carpenter wrote his will in 1837 in Norwich CT.It was probated in Montgomery Co.
AL, where it is on record in Will Book 2, pages 175-180.The probate record begins with
depositions of witnesses to the will, which depositions are dated 20 Oct 1837 at Norwich, New
London Co. CT.The witnesses were Dr. Richard T. Tracey, Burrel Lathrop, and John T. White.
The will was written by "Daniel Carpenter of Montgomery in the State of Alabama, now living in
Norwich, County of New London, Connecticut."It includes bequests to his "beloved wife
Sarah H. Carpenter" to whom he bequeathed his mansion house in Montgomery and other items,
his brother Gardiner F./7 Carpenter, his brother-in-law Walter Lester and the four children of his
late sister Mary Ann/7 (Carpenter) Lester, his brother-in-law Seth Robinson and children Daniel
C. Robinson and Sarah C. Robinson, and his sister Nancy/7 Carpenter, all of Norwich.The will
is dated 8 June 1837.
Daniel/7 Carpenter died on 11 June 1837 in Norwich.Daniel/7 Carpenter's brothers and sisters
were Charles/7 Carpenter, who resided in Boston MA, Alfred/7 Carpenter, Gardiner/7 Carpenter,
Betsey/7 Carpenter, Nancy/7 Carpenter, and Mary Ann/7 Carpenter, who married Walter Lester
in 1821.It is not clear from this will which of the sisters married Seth Robinson, though it can be
inferred that it was Betsey/7 Carpenter, as she is the only sister not otherwise specified in the will.
The probate records do not mention any children of Daniel/7 Carpenter.His widow, Sarah H.
(Shaw) Carpenter, married on 1 Jan 1840 in Montgomery AL to Thomas Welch [MCA].

Not my line but have access to the will of Daniel Carpenter but will post it here for those who are
descendant(s).
Will of Daniel Carpenter, dated 8 June 1837, Probated December 1837, a resident of Montgomery
County, Alabama, executed in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut.
To beloved wife, Sarah H. Carpenter, my mansion house in Montgomery County,
lands, etc.
Residue in trust to wife, brother Guard F. Carpenter; brother-in-law Waller Lister of Norwich;
brother-in-law Seth Robinson, for benefit of wife, brother, Guard F. Carpenter, and sister, Nancy
Carpenter, of Norwich - children of sister, Mary Ann Lester (Lister?), deceased, and two children
of my brother-inlaw, Seth Robinson, to wit, Danile C. Robinson and Sarah C. Robinson.
Executors: Trustees appointed but not named.
Witnesses: Richard T Tracy, John L Waite, Burrell Lathrop.
