Carothers Researchers, I am submitting this compilation of the family line of James Carothers based on various web postings, family letters in my possession, and my personal research at various libraries and in Jessamine Co Ky...it is subject to your scrutiny...please use this as a basis of comment and discussion for all to profit from... James Carothers was born ca 1753 (per Rev War documents) and d ca 1835 in Jessamine Co Ky near Keene (the Jessamine Co Ky Historical Society is planning to place a Rev War Historical marker at site of James' grave in summer 2005)...James is listed as James Corathers (sic) on pg. 59 of 1810 Jessamine Census with 1M10-16,2M16-26, 1M>45, 1F10-16, 1F16-26...James is listed as James Corether (sic) on 1820 Jessamine Census with 1M16-26, 1M>45, 1F16-26. James is listed in "History of Jesamine County Kentucky" as a founder of Clear Creek Presbyterian Church in 1829. James md 1) ? (some researchers list Mary Smith ch. ? James md 2) Nancy Scott (Scotts are an allied family of Carothers line) ch. 1) William Carothers b ca 1784 listed as William Corathers (sic) on pg. 61 of 1810 Jessamine Census with 1M<10, 1M16-26, 1F<10, 1F16-26...Wm moved to Jackson Co. Ind. and is found there on 1820 Census living near sister Sarah Carothers Wells (see below) Wm. md. Mary Hamer b ca 1790 Little York Fayette Co Pa. ch. 1) Morris Carothers b ca 1808 ch. 2) Eliz. Collins Hackney ch. Mary Francis Hackney b 1862 LaGro Ind. md. __Mossman ch. 2) James Carothers b ca 1827 md. Susan Leseuer ch. Kate b 9 Apr 1858 (see "Vital Statistics of Jessamine Co. Ky." by Vockery ch. 3) William Carothers ch. 4) Samuel Carothers b 17 Dec 1833 d 11 Jan 1916 md. Mary B. __ b 1850 d 15 Oct 1884 No Children NOTES ON SAMUEL: both he and Mary are buried in Keene Cemetery. Samuel was the last heir of James b 1753 to live on the home place near Keene. Samuel died childless in 1916 and had deeded the home place to two ladies who had agreed to care for him in his old age. * Most data for Joseph's line provided 11 Jan 2000 letter from Jane Pennington Agnini a descendant of Joseph thru Mary Ann Hackney Notify Administrator about this message?
