According to her obituary, my greatgrandmother, Charlotte Ann
Carney, was born in Montreal, Ontario, Canada, on December 24,
1847. Based on later U.S. Census data, I believe it was Montreal,
Quebec. Charlotte was adopted at an early age by Elnathan Chapman
and his wife Mary. By 1860 they are living in Detroit, Michigan,
and later moved to Boone County, Iowa. I am searching for
information on Charlotte's birth parents and confirmation of her
birthplace.
