My Carney forebears are from Norfolk County, VA, now the cities of Portsmouth & Chesapeake in The Tidewater area of Virginia. my gggggfather was Samuel Carney, married to Lydia. Their children were Barneby (or Barnaby),Margret (or Margaret), Ann B., John B., James, Samuel, Stephon (or Stephen), Sarah & Lydia. I assume they were married prior to 1819. Samuel later married "Nancy" and they had a son, William Loid Wheeler Carney. Hope this will help you.
