I am working on my family tree. We are from New Jersey. I know only this of the Carney name:

My father is Patrick Carney- his father is Joseph Carney whose father was Patrick Carney who was married to a Anna Gills (of the Gills' Family Farm located in Edison/Woodbridge New Jersey in the 1800's ) and that would be the late 1880's to 1901 when my grandfather Joseph was born. Patrick died in 1901 when my grandfather Joseph was only 9 months old.

I am trying to trace further than the latter Patrick which would be my great-grandfather. However, everyone is gone now and it seems to be an unending story.

Hope you can help.
