Thanks for the reply, Myrna. Yes, it is a confusing thing to place the right Thomas Carney. I found another person who sumized that there was a John and Thomas Carney who may have been children of a Francis Carney in Stafford County. The place is right I'm sure. I know that in old records the daughters are often overlooked so it's hard to find a match unless you are there digging. Susannah married George Oakley on March 14, 1780 in Loudoun County. I was hoping that record would give the father's name. There was a Thomas Carney that ended up in Washington Co. TN. Once I can find the father for sure I think going back would be easy as most seem to come from one or two Carney's that came over. If you hear of anything please do let me know and keep in touch.
