Dear Don Rawls

Thanks for your message regarding Sarah Carney and John Anderson. I have very little information on the Carney family myself, and have not verified all that I have received from others. I do know John Anderson and Sarah Carney were married in Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co, VA.

In the DAR Patriot Index v I a Thomas Carney (ca 1732-p 1795) was credited with patriotic service in VA (provided supplies, etc but not military service) His wife was Mary Carroll. I have not sent for the record from the DAR, but will (I should have done this a long time ago).

One researcher says John Carney's father is this Thomas and that his children were (1) John (2) Sarah (3) Thomas, (4) Traverse (Travis?), (5) Absolom, (6) Mary, (7) Jane, and (8) Oxesby. Does this match your records?

I would be very interested in sharing information, and will let you know what I find when I get the record copy from the DAR.

Best wishes
Mary Ann Harding
