My great grandfather was James Carney,B.1832,who left Ireland during the potato famine and settled in Wednesbury, England.He married Bridget Colleran, also from Ireland. Bridget was flogged by the English when leaving Ireland for not boarding the boat fast enough! They had seven children--Patrick, Michael, James, John A, Edward, Catherine and Ann Agnes. Eventually, most of them emigrated to Louisville and/or Newport, Kentucky. Would appreciate any information you have on these Carneys.
