Hi, I'm also related to Carneys from Oswego, NY. This is the first time I've seen your posting, after I did a search on "Oswego." My grandmother was Mary Ellen Carney, m. William A. Devlin in I think 1894. Her mother was named Julia Clark (no e at the end) who was born in Pulaski, NY in 1850 and married William Carney, who in turn was born in 1852 in Chicago, but whose father, John Carney, was supposedly b. in Oswego. The family was all in the Oswego area until recent decades.
Julia Clark Carney's father was a Patrick Clark. William and Julia Carney had a son named Edward (he worked for the typesetters union); his descendants live in the Sullivan Co. area of the Catskills. There were several other children, some of whom also had descendants I'm sometimes in contact with. Don't know if this is coincidence, but the
combination of names & places is interesting. Pls. contact.
