Hi Mike,
I am also looking for Carney's from Castlebar. My gggrandmother Ellen Carney (b: 1831 d: 1920) married John Garvey (b: 1820-30 d: before 1880) and had 4 children; Mary (1859-1936), Patrick (1860-1936), Anna (1864-1925) and my ggrandmother Catherine (1868-1920). John died in Ireland, Ellen then emigrated with her family to Cleveland, Ohio. Ellen's death certificate list her parents as "unknown" Carney and Mary Maloney. We have located the children's baptismal records from St. Cronan in the Diocese of Tuam, Parish of Balla. The IGI records show that they lived in Roslahan, and we have located John Garvey in the Griffiths in Roslahan Upper, which I believe is near Belcarra. Other related surnames from this area include Higgins and Loftus. Reply back if you think there is any connection to your clan.

Thanks,
Bernie McCafferty
Cleveland, Ohio
