Mary: How does the following fit with what you know?
Lucy Ann (2/10/1814-aft 1880) married William Elder (1813-aft 1880) about 1835. The Elder boys were brothers from Saline County, Illinois, both farmers with rather large holdings. In 1850, Williamís farm was already evaluated at $3500. By 1870 the Elders were hotel owners in Eldorado, Illinois. Their kids and year of birth were: John 1837, Jasper 1841, Martin 1844, James 1847, Matilda 1849, Minerva 1852, Andrew 1854, Serena 1856, Stephen Douglas1858, and Samuel 1862. Seven year old George Parson was living with the family in 1860. John and Jasper were employed as millers in 1860. A young George Elder, age 23, and his wife Mary lived next to William Tosh in 1850.
