Carnahan Family Genealogy Forum

Carol, I have a lot of info on this line. In fact, I am currently looking for James David Carnahan 1812-1903. He is my 3x Great Grandfather. I have found two of his children and one of his brothers, John. I love to add photos to my Findagrave.com memorials and to my Ancestry.com family tree, even if it is only a headstone photo. We are getting closer, but still have no idea where he is exactly.
Margaret Elizabeth, his mother was living with James and his family until 1850 as you said. Then in 1850 or 1851 another son of hers, Hiram, decided to make the trek to Oregon. Margaret went with Hiram and his wife, and this is when Margaret died en route on Christmas Day, 1851. (I wonder why they left so late in the year being that they would have to travel through the mountains to get there?)
I have found Hiram and his family all buried in Oregon, so I know they made it. I would still like to know where they were when Margaret died though. I picture her buried under a pile of stones along the Oregon trail somewhere out in the middle of nowhere, probably lost to time. We may never be able to find her today but I still have hope. David
