Juanita Baker Carmack, 87, of McLean, VA, formerly of Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Avalon House in McLean, VA. She belonged to the United Methodist Church in Kingsport, TN. She was a graduate of the Cordon Bleu Gormet Cooking Institute in France. She loved cooking and sewing. She was a loving wife and friend and she will be missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Bertha Barger Baker; and her husband, Matt Carmack. She is survived by her brother, Ray L. Baker of St. Petersburg, FL; two nephews, Ray Biff Baker of Clearwater, FL, and Michael K. Baker of St. Petersburg. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow with Reverend Aaron Pierce officiating. Graveside services will be held after the funeral service in Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Masonic Garden. Memorial contributions may be made to Prevention of Blindness Society, 1775 Church Street NW, Washington, DC 20036. The staff of Oak Hill is honored to serve the family of Juanita B.
