Hi Ellen , now we are getting somewere,first off Richard the Lionheart was Gay and in the years he was married to Berengeria it is recorded the he never beded her, strange fellow by all acounts she was a good looker,
in the book of Cornish Surnames by G.Pawley White, Carlyon is from,car-lyjyon:campof the legion,or car-leghen: earthwork of slate or shale. Place names,Carlyon Nr Kea nr Truro,
Kea and St Miniver,Carleen Nr Breage, Breage, Carleon, Morval.I need a few dates of your earliest family to give you more regards Brian,<Brian@pcarlyon.fsnet.co.uk>
