Oral tradition in our family has it that Mary, born around 1800 or so, was a sister of famous Scottish author Thomas Carlyle, but I don't know much about him and plan on checking his genealogy to see if he had a sister. She apparently m. a Mr. Sinclair, and their dau. Mary Ann Sinclair m. John Dickson (also from Scotland) in early 1850's. They lived in Ontario, Canada.

Any info would be appreciated.
