I am looking for information on a James Carlton who married an Ida McCowan, I think that is the right spelling. These are the parents of my husband's grandmother. I can not seem to be able to get alot of information on them. Family members say that Ida's parents came from another country to visit.
James b. about 1877 in Tennessee
Ida b. about 1879 in Kentucky
1930 Census shows them in Harlan County, Kentucky
1920 Census shows them in Russell County, Virginia as an engineer on a train.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
