I see a couple of possibilities for Alfred on the Emibas CD. Emibas was made from registrations with the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country. It is about 75% complete.

None of the possibilities arrived in 1875, however. If 1875 was found on a census as his immigration year, realize that those years are approximate and might vary from census to census. My grandfather always had 1890 listed as his immigration year but he left Sweden in 1891. (I have much proof of that from Swedish records and even some U.S. records.)

Try to find a specific birthdate. Even a month and year help a lot. The U.S. Federal Census provides a month and year of birth. Death certificates often provide a birthdate.

Here are the possibilities I found and remember that Emibas is only 75% complete. None are Alfred W. (or Alfred V. V and W are interchangeable in Sweden.)

Have you heard of the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center? They have a website but their extensive collection of records is NOT online. Many of us have found clues there which helped us find our ancestor in Sweden.

I looked again, and I was correct. You mentioned both an Arthur (in the post) and an Alfred W. (in the subject line.)

I don't see any Arthur listed with the information you provided.
