Maynard Carlson was born October 4, 1919, in Slayton, Minnesota, the son of Hjalmer and Gina (Peterson) Carlson. He married June Ann Walter on December 26, 1943, in Peoria, Illinois. Dr. Carlson attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, and then attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the Peoria Dental Society during his years of practice in Peoria. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge, Grand View 1112. He had a passion for fishing, which brought many hours of pleasure over his lifetime. He also enjoyed gardening and especially liked raising tomatoes and Bonsai pine trees. Dr. Maynard O. Carlson passed away Friday, September 7, 2007 at the age of 87.

He is survived by his wife June; one son Bruce and his wife, Ann, Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Susan Murray, Minneapolis, MN; one brother Luverne Carlson, Garvin, MN. He also is survived by his grandchildren: Kristen Murray, Andrew Murray and Steven Carlson. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services were held at the University United Methodist Church, Peoria, IL on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Lawry and the Rev. Gene Mace officiating. Burial is in Springdale Cemetery.
