validity is & was irrelevant. this site is supposed to cluster reasonable variants under one heading. It was very childish to establish a Carloss forum when there already was a Carlos. & in US (anglo) areas Carlos & Don Carlos are the more common. Carloss shows up other than as "Misspelling" in Tenn fairly late.
The question is are the VA/NC etc Carlos people originally Carles as in early VA records or is that a misspelling as well? when & how did the DON get added.? is it from Irish "geese" coming home from wars on continent with a "title" or is from Dun Carlis/Carlos in Ireland?

Where & how do you fit into it all?
