Margaret,
I do know that CARLESS is a variant of the CARLOS name that later changed to DONCARLOS. It was used as late as the early 1800's in Virginia. There is however, another family name, not connected to the DONCARLOS', that is CARLOS. They even have some of the same first names as the DONCARLOS lines have.
Bob GORDON at rag2@flash.net is researching this CARLOS lines. So if you are having problems finding your given names in DONCARLOS or CARLESS you might contact him and see if it is the CARLOS lines he has.
