Daniel Higdon made the following affidavit:
Georgia, Muscogee County.
Be it remembered that I, Daniel Higden, of the County of Muscogee and State aforesaid, being in perfect mind and memory and viewing the uncertainty of life, do make the following certificate in favor of my old friend and acquaitance, Edmund Carlisle, wit: I do certify that said Edmund Carlisle rendered several towers of duty in the defence of the rights of America against Great Brittain in the Revolutionary war in the State of North Carolina; and further, the said Edmund Carlisle did serve with me under Captain Joseph Jansen and was considered a faithful Whig, and acquitted himself with honor to his country and credit to himself, to the best of my recollection. In testimony whereof, I do hereunto set my hand and seal this Dec. 1st, 1843.
his
Daniel [X] Higden.

There is a transcription error in the affidavit. Daniel Higdon served in Capt. Joseph Johnson's Chatham County Militia which would indicate that Edmund was from Chatham County when he entered Revolutionary service and is the Edmund Carlisle in the 1780 transaction.
