Lynne, I don't know if it's the same family or not, but I am descended from a Mary Ann Carlin, born in Quebec to Irish parents. She was born late 1830s to Michael Carlin and Mary "Ellen" Burns. I've seen a census record from 1851 that shows a Bridget (age 11) as one of "Ann"'s sisters (also brothers Patrick & Dennis). I'm trying to confirm that this is my family - the names and dates are about right. Could this be your Bridget?
I'm not sure where the parents were from in Ireland, but I'm pretty sure that they settled in Sherbrooke, Quebec, and attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church (I have a handwritten brief family tree from my deceased great aunt). Does any of this sound familiar to your research? BTW, my Mary Ann Carlin moved to the Boston, MA, area by the 1860s. Regards, Jane
