Mollie, I don't see any obvious connection, but there don't seem to be many Carlins who emigrated from England, so you never know.Since posting my original message, I have received the right death certificate for my GGgrandfather John Carlin. He was born March 10, 1820 in England, his parents were John Carlin Sr. and Jane Hobson.Jane was living with John Jr. according to the 1850 census image (John Sr. must have passed away before this)and I believe the family came over together. On the 1900 census, John Jr. says the year he came to the US was 1840.Someone at the Milwaukee Library told me the family was from Keyineham, Yorkshire England.I can't find that town, but there are towns called Keyingham and a Keynsham. If any of this ever pops up in your research, let me know.Leslie
