My greatgrandparents were living in St. Mary Parish. They are in the 1880 census for St. Mary Parish although some of the info on the census is wrong.James Cruce b. about 1857 was married to Amiee Edmonia Carlin (daughter of Delfort Carlin and Noemie Provost). In the 1880 census James is listed as son-in-law to U.B. Carlin.I have talked with a newhew of Amiee Carlin (he lives in Groves, TX, James Wiliford Carlin) and he told me that James Cruce was married to Amiee Carlin. My father remembers Mr. Carlin as being a visitor as he was growing up.He also remembers is grandmother, Amiee,. My dad was only about 6 mos old when James Cruce killed himself in Orange, TX.I have been to the City Hall and to the court house and cannot find any info on him. My dad's older sister was old enough to remember the incident and she even told me the name of the street in Orange that he was residing.
I would appreciate any help you could give me on finding the parents of James Cruce. My grandfather (Allison Cruce) and all his siblings were born in St. Mary Parish. Some were born in Centerville.I hope this helps you in helping me.
