James Carlan/ Allegheny Co. PA
I am searching for siblings of my great grandfather, James Carlan; b. May 1846, in Ireland. It is said through the family grapevine that James traveled with a brother, whom he lost contact with in New York and was never able to restablish contact. As to whether or not there were other siblings that came over at sometime, I don't know. His mother's name may have been Nora.
He immigrated to the U.S. on June 12, 1865. Filed his intent to naturalize in Allegheny county, PA on August 3, 1868. Received his final naturalization papers on October 26, 1880 in Lawrence County, Ohio
He moved to Lawrence County, Ohio, date unknown.Married Jennie Boyce on Dec. 28, 1879.Resided in Coal Grove, Ohio until moving to Ironton, Ohio where he died in December of 1918.
It is also said through the family grapevine that the Carlan and Boyce families were related. It was quite the family "skeleton in the closet" until recently.
Connection to anyone?
Regards,
Anne Marie
