Hi I am a Carlile resarcher but my family came from Northern Ireland - but spelt their name Carlile and not Carlisle...I have looked at Carlile's from Ashburton, I know the place very well as I was stationed nr there in the 1950's..and now live in Dorset the next county to the east. It is interesting that both spellings seem to have been used in Ashburton. You do not give any idea of the age of Richard Jnr. I have details of 37 Richards who were either Christened or Married in Devon - Give me some more details and I will try and locate the richard you are refering to. you can contact me direct on kenthurley@aol.ocm if you like - my mother was a Carlile.....ken Thurley Dorset England
