My father, Norman Carlile worked at Walker Mine as a mining engineer in 1936 and again from 1941 until the mine closed in 1942. I was born in Itogon, Philippine Islands (a mining town)in 1939. There is information about Walker mine that I posted on the Ghost Town web site: http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/ca/caplumas.htmlhttp://www.ghosttowns.com/states/ca/caplumas.html Click on Walker mine on the map. There is a short writeup and some photos. The 4th photo down from the top is my father. My father died in 1991. I do not remember him talking about any specific mining accident. I do remember him talking about many of the dangers in mining. There is some information and newspaper clipings about Walker Mine at the museum in Quincy, Plumas County. What was your Uncle's name? I can ask my mother if she remembers anything about him or the accident. I am sending you an e-mail with a scanned photo of the mine crew taken July 9th 1936. Maybe you can find your Father, Grandfather and Uncles. Hope this helps.
