CARLIER FAMILY/FRANCE TO USA/ABOUT 1885
I am researching my Carlier family line and am searching for descendents of this line.Rosalie Gambier or Gambeau Carlier crossed the Atlantic Ocean from France with her four children, Alexander, Frank, Oscar and Elise in the middle to late 1880s.She was the wife of Frank Carlier, Senior but I am assuming that she was widowed when she left France as I do not find in any of my research that Frank Carlier, Senior ever arrived in the United States. They were from the St. Le Noble area of France.I have a lot of information and pictures on the American family after years of research but we are still missing a number of the descendents.
Rosalie Carlier lived in Pana, Illinois and then in Detroit, Michigan where she died in 1925.She made several trips back to France during the time that she lived in the United States.
Her children were:
Frank Carlier, who died in Detroit, Michigan. He had a son named August who made at least one trip to France when he was 16 years of age.
Alexander Carlier (my Great Grandfather), born July 18, 1869 in St. Le Noble, France and died April 19, 1930 in Hanson, Illinois. He was married first to Kate or Catherine/Katherine Allairs/Allais Britton and they lived in Christian County, Illinois and Clay County, Indiana. They were the parents of of Kate and Aelix Carlier and then divorced.Alexander then married Augustine Huon or Huron or Huvon and they were the parents of Alexander (my Grandfather who married Opal Hinton), Rosalie (married Finch) and Rosa (married Carpenter) who were twins and Augustine (married Hilliard).
Oscar Carlier, Sr., born September 23, 1871 in St. Le Noble, France and died January 12, 1948 in Pana, Illinois. He was married first to Augustine Lecocq and after her death he married Odelie Henry.
Elise Carlier was born June of 1877 in St. Le Noble, France and was married to Leon Victor Bertin or Berten.
I have a lot of information to date but I am finding the descendents of the four children of Rosalie in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Texas, California, Michigan and Montana so it has been a difficult research project.
I will be happy to share any information that I have with anyone descended from this line.
