This is what I have about Joseph Carley Sr and Joseph Carley Jr. Van Vechten's Co Albany Co Militia 1761 : Abraham, James, Joel, Joseph, Joseph junr, Moses Carley. (This would give Joseph Sr a birth date of roughly 1720 and Joseph Jr a date of roughly 1740.) MILITIA Rolls 1767 Abraham, Moses, Joel, James, Joseph Carly NOBLE TOWN PROPRIETORS MEETINGS Transcribed by Susan Mulvey October 2000 <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~clifflamere/Misc/MI-Noble-Prop.htm> 2nd Novr 1767 Meeting of the proprietors of Noble Town lists Robert Meeker, Jethro Morehouse, and Joseph Carley. [They receive the same size property allocations.] 1766 TAX LIST CLAVERACK, COLUMBIA COUNTY, NEW YORK [There are two slightly different copies of this tax list, written by different hands.]<http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/columbia/hill/endnotes2.htm> "THE LIST OF RENSELAER MENNOR OF CLAVERAC" 1 February 1766 Joseph Curly Jur Jos Junr tax list Claverack 1767 The Joseph Carley who married a Quackenbush was probably in the generation after Joseph Carley Jr -- perhaps a son. It is possible that Joseph Jr. was my Persis's father, but Peter, Moses Jr, and Thomas Carley (all sons of Moses Carley) were in Schorharie Co. when Jonathan Meeker and Persis Carley were there, and Jonathan and Persis named their first son Moses. (As far as I can tell, they did not name a son Joseph.) This inclines me toward Moses Carley Sr. as her father, but Persis does not show up on the baptism rolls with his other children.
