I neglected to answer your query about a Joseph Carley - we are fairly certain that John and Abraham had a brother Joseph, there is a Joseph who married into the Quackenbush family in 1789, (father of Gerardus Q.) and a daughter of Albert's who also married a Quackenbush (Cornelius) in 1809. That Joseph's father would have been a contemporary of John and Abraham and possibly their younger brother. There was also a Joseph Carley kicking around in Fairfield CT in the 1720's. Too early for our John's brother, but maybe an uncle (brother of William [Mary Boaden] Carley of Boston/Gloucester?. Are we on overkill yet??
