Janice - sorry to be so long in responding to your last message - I've been chasing the Carley/Kerly side of the family -
I have discovered a Persis ? who married Jo(h)nathan Gray. Their daughter Persis Gray m. James Snow. James Snow had 2 brothers, Hezikiah and Ebenezer - both brothers m. Carley sisters, daughters of James and Ruth A(E)yres Carley. These men were born @ 1725-30 - Lived in Woburn, MA.
We are hoping to find that Persis Gray had a brother Johnathan and that he was the one who was living in the Oblong next to the Covey family in the 1760s and that Johnathan had a daughter Jane or something similar, that would make her the Jenny Gray who married the Johnathan Carley, who lived after 1796 in Sidney, Dela. Co, NY .(Johnathan and Jenny Gray Carley were married in 1780 in Frederickstown as was his brother Albert, who married Hannah Covey in 1777 - same place.) Albert and Johnathan were sons of the Abraham and Susannah Unknown - later - 1759 - she remarried and became the wife of Thaddeus Gray of Westport - this Abraham was a son of John and Sarah Meeker Sherwood Carley of Westport, CT. John was probably a brother of the Abraham who married Susannah Brookins and they later lived in Hillsdale, Columbia, NY, where they died after the Rev. War. So, hopefully, this will give you some sort of clue about PERSIS.
