Thanks for your message. The printed copy of Thomas Carleton, Sr.,s life and will is from www.virginians.com/topics/426.htm
and states he was married to Sarah Swepson. My daughter-in-law is descended from him through his daughter Rebbeca who married William Puryear (see Puyears of America by Jay Puryear). The printed copy gives a reference to the original documentation of his service in the Rev. War as "Mecklenburg Co. Court Order, Book 4, p. 374". I went to this on the internet but it was not complete enough and this is the sort of original stuff I'm looking for. The DAR gave me their word that he was.It is so nice to touch base with you and your relationship with the Carletons. Thanks for your help and Happy New Year. Julia Grehan
