Yes, there are a few Cariño's in the Philippines and I am part of that family. The connection with Mexico could be the fact that although the Philippines was colonized by the Spanish for 400 years, they were Spaniards mostly from Mexico who came to the Philippines.I am told that the Cariño name is really originally from Italy and migration is the probable cause of the name moving to Portugal and Spain, to Mexico, then to the Philippines. This is only my own understanding from reading Philippine history and connecting it to the surname; I am not a historian by any means.
