In the Thomas Carhart book, I'm finding a Judith Carhart, b. 1821 who otherwise mostly matches your description. Married January 1, 1851 to George Martin of New York City. He was born Oct. 10 1827. George died in Minnesota, June 21, 1865. Their children were Maria Louise Martin (b 2/3/1853, m 11/12/1871 to William A. Garver of Dodge Co, Minn), Ada C. Martin (b 11/26/1855, m 6/4/1873 to Frederick D. Palin of Minn.), and Helen C. Martin (b 8/1/1857, m 10/5/1876 to John Shepherdson of Min.
Judith Martin re-married on 8/12/1867 to George Durfey of Claremont, dodge Co., Minn (b. Jan. 20, 1817)
Going back further, Judith was the 9th child of Solomon (b. 11/6/1782) and Catherine (Fires) Carhart (b 4/4/1784). Her siblings were 1. Anna 2. Catherine 3. Sarah Maria 4. Hackaliah 5. Peter 6. Solomon 7. Jane Eliza 8. Levi 10. Margaret 11. Leonard A. 12 Fletcher.
Judith's grandfather was Danial Carhart (b 1746 at Rye, NY)
Her grandmother was Elizabeth (Bloomer) Carhart (b.1757)
Judith's great-grandfather was Thomas Carhart (b. about 1718)
Her great-grandmother was Elizabeth (Purdy) Carhart (b. 1714)
Thomas died in 1761 of typhus fever. Elizabeth died 11/26/1798.
Thomas Carhart was the son of John Carhart (b. 1692 Staten Island) who was married to Anne. The Thomas Carhart of Cornwall Engalnd book has a good deal of information on John Carhart, who was the first son of Thomas Carhart. Apparently John married again in 1762 (wife Jane). However, Thomas was his first son and was with Anne. John's father, Thomas Carhart came over to North America in 1650 from Cornwall Engalnd and is where the book stops.
If you want a copy of the Carhart book, you can pick it up online from www.tuttlebooks.com.
Hope that helps.
