Be willing to use variants. My ancestor, John Cary from Bristol England came to the Plymouth Colony in 1634.He entered a contract with Miles Standish, in the late 1630's (Miles was aging) and moved first to Duxbury, then elsewhere. In the contract his last name is spelled "Carew".In my researches this spelling was used in England sometimes but ALWAYS pronounced as Cary/Carey.
I think I've seen the name Mercy in my travels.E-mail me.I might be able to find something solid.Tim
