Carey's in Tennessee

I recently found land records at the Library/Archives in the basement at the Sugarland Visitor Center in Gatlinburg, TN. for Mary Carey a single woman, S.G Carey & wife Pearl Carey. Mary sold the land for $1800 on 7-26-1930. Says it is the same land that was bequeathed to mrey Carey by the will of Vance Newman dated 12-8-1893.
Another document, State of TN vs Champion Fibre Co. petition of Mary E. Carey & others. This petition says that a James Carey died interstate in Jefferson Co, TN. Mary E. Carey was his widow, it also names several children. I had thought that this might be part of my husband's Carey family, but I can't actually prove if it is or not. Is this James Carey above the one who was an Indian scout?? Is this land what later became part of the Great Smokey Mountains?? If there is anyone out there who is part of the Carey's mentioned above or can help me figure out if these are part of my husband's Carey family, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you!

Betty (Brown) Carey
