Hi Joyce I am also researching the Cary family in Donegal. whist doing so I came across you message and then found this on the Donegal site of Roots web - very good site incidentally if you haven't yet come across it.

December 18 1857
On the 9th inst., at her residence, Cary's Hotel, Moville, suddenly, of congestion of the brain, MRS. WILLIAM CARY, aged 34 years.

These are all announcements extracted from one of the following papers: Strabane Morning Post, Londonderry Standard and Londonderry Sentinal.

Strangely enough my mother also told me there was Spanish blood but she did not know where. I haven't come across any yet but if it is true it is likely to come from the Irish side part of which is Cary.
